Movie Marathon Captions: YEAR ONE AND A 1/2

Here you will find captions for the films we will be watching minus the surprises of course.  But, this year I've decided to add two hidden links for two of the surprise films we will be watching so be on the look out.

Well folks, another year, well ok, a few months have gone by and here we are again.  These past few months have been hectic with the baby and all, and little Jimmy going off to college, as well as Ned's operation, but here we go again with the marathon.  I hope you enjoy this year's selections.  We have come up with some doozies.  Make sure to check out some of the new rules, they are important.  Sorry about not having this event on campus, but after careful consideration, I decided that having it on campus would take far too much time and money to get going and I don't have much time left here at Kent, nor does Mike.  So, until we can get our feet wet within the University, holding the marathon "bootleg" style is the way it's gonna be.  Well folks, sit back, relax and prepare yourself for this season's marathon.

May fear be with you,
Mike and Randy

This year, each  film is divided into genre

SO....

OUR SLASHERS FOR THE EVENING:

8:00 PM-4:00 AM

Jaws 2 (1979)  Rated PG

Some of the cast returns in this smash hit sequel to the original Jaws.  This time, another shark has come to Amity to reek havoc, but only Brody is convinced that such a beast exists while other doubt him.  TRIVIA: They actually fired the original director (John D. Hancock) from this one because he didnt want the shark to be the main attraction.

Friday the 13th  Part 2 (1981)  Rated R

Jason Vorhees returns five years after Friday to seek revenge on the girl who killed his Mommy.  After hes done with that, he offs a few more counselors for having sex and doing drugs.  TRIVIA: Jason STILL does not have his mask in this one (he obtains it in Part 3), but he does wear a potato sack with one eye cut in it.

Halloween 2 (1981)  Rated R

On the very same night as the original Halloween, Michael Myers continues to hunt down Laurie Strode and other helpless people.  Also, Dr. Loomis gets to tell 50 more people about how utterly evil Mike Myers is.  TRIVIA: The Mike Myers mask is simply a Captain Kirk mask heated and expanded to look warped.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (1985)  Rated R

Five years after Freddy was put to rest, a young boy moves into his house and begins taking on the presence of Fred Krueger.  Murder after murder, Freddy Krueger begins to emerge to kill again.  This time, its for real.  TRIVIA: This film is considered the greatest homoerotic slasher film ever made, watch for the clues.

***SURPRISE 1 was Schlock!

NOW ON TO THE ODD ONES:

4:00 AM-2:00 PM

Last House on the Left (1972)  Unrated

After committing sadistic murder, a group of escaped convicts meet the last people they'd want to run in withand no, its not Patrick Duffy.  Fooled you didnt I?  Wes Cravens first big hit.  TRIVIA: The villians girl is played by my cousins best friend from college, who was also married to Richard Dreyfuss.

The Fog (1980)  Rated R

John Carpenters follow-up to Halloween follows the quiet town of Antonio Bay as it is seemingly terrorized by a large patch of fog that could inhabit something more deadly than anyone could have ever imagined.  TRIVIA:  The assistant to Father Malone shown in the beginning, known as Bennett, is played by an uncredited John Carpenter.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)  Rated PG-13

On a dark and spooky evening, a meteor crashes in a forest.  Its contents: Klowns.  One problem: they are here to eat and murder the entire human race.  Sorry kids, no dog shaped balloons today.  TRIVIA: The only movie in existence to have popcorn attacking people and killing them.

Riki-OH (1996)

WHATS IN STORE ON THE ZOMBIE FRONT?:

2:00 PM-12:00 AM

Dawn of the Dead (1978)  Rated R

Only days after the events of Night of the Living Dead, the dead have begun walking the earth and all of humanity is at risk.  Soon and group of friends are locked up inside a mall where they must fight for themselves and for humanity. TRIVIA: Earned an X on first viewing but was cut to obtain the R.  Romero, the director, actually prefers the R cut.

Return of the Living Dead (1985)  Rated R

A sequel of sorts to Night of the Living Dead is a comedy spoof that takes a deadly turn towards frightening when a canister is opened and people begin to rise from the dead.  Slowly the city falls to the man eating zombies who want brains.  TRIVIA: Directed by the guys who wrote Alien and Total Recall.

Evil Dead 2 (1987)  Unrated

In a completely stupid move, Ash brings yet another girl back to the haunted cabin for a night of love, but soon he finds himself submerged in a world where even his own hand is a zombie.  TRIVIA: Directed by Sam Raimi who would later go on to direct the smash hit Spider-Man.

**SURPRISE #2 and #3 were Battle Royale and Ring

LETS SEE WHAT THE VAMPIRES, DEMONS and CRITTERS  HAVE TO SAY:

12:00 AM-4:00AM

Fright Night (1985)  Rated R

It seemed like a normal evening for Charlie Dandrige until he notices his new neighbor bringing in a coffin.  He soon discovers that his neighbor is a vampire and he must be stopped.  TRIVIA: Vincent Price and Peter Cushing were the inspiration for the name of Roddy McDowell's character Peter Vincent.

Critters (1986)  Rated PG-13

A massive ball of furry creatures from another world eat their way through a small mid-western town followed by intergalactic bounty hunters opposed only by militant townspeople.  TRIVIA:  Dee Wallace Stone appears as a mother in both Critters and E.T.  At one point during this film, a Critter attacks an E.T. doll.  Also, the Chiodo Brothers, whose effects were used in this film, would later go on to do Killer Klowns From Outer Space.

**FEATURE FILM:

Frailty (2002)  Rated R

Fenton Meeks comes forth to tell the FBI that his brother Adam may be the serial killer who calls himself God's Hands, who the FBI has been searching for. The film uses flashbacks to show Meeks' childhood with a father who believed he was on a mission from God to destroy demons that inhabit human bodies.  TRIVIA: Bill Paxton used the same beer can throughout the entire filming of the movie.
